Rolls Royce appoints Anita Frew as its new chair
For the first time in a century and more, a woman is the leads Rolls Royce’s chair
British automobile company, Rolls Royce, has announced that Anita Frew is going to be assuming the role of its new chair from October 2021, succeeding Sir Ian Davis who has held the role for over a decade.
Anita Frew is the first woman to ever take up the position in Rolls Royce’s 115 years of existence and she is currently the chair of Croda, a British chemicals company.
The senior independent director for Rolls Royce, Sir Kevin Smith, confirmed that Anita Frew was considered to be perfect for the role because of her twenty years-long experience of board appointments in the United Kingdom and beyond as well as her high reputation amongst investors and government institutions which could be advantageous to the company.
Anita Frew is going to be tasked with reviving the overall financial wellbeing of Rolls-Royce which was stunted due to the COVID-19 pandemic’s effect on international travel, seeing as the aerospace arm of the company births a little over half of its income. This caused the company to lay off over 9,000 staff members.
Many are anticipating the variety of changes that Anita Drew will bring to Rolls Royce while serving as its chair.
