The CEO of Amazon, Jeff Bezos, took to Instagram to announce that he will be flying to space with his brother named Mark, through his rocket company called Blue Origin on July 20th, 2021.

Blue Origin kickstarted an auction for a spot on its first space flight where the winner will be present on the flight with Jeff Bezos and other crew members. The rocket company received over 5,200 bidders across 136 countries. The highest bid was $2.8 million but the identity of who the bidder is was concealed.

Jeff Bezos’s rocket company’s spacecraft has been made to undergo 15 test flights without any passengers on board in order to ascertain its strength. The spaceship is capable of autonomously flying six passengers over 62 miles (100 km) above Earth into suborbital space.

Persons who will be on the space flight will be required to sign a waiver of liability that states that in the case where they don’t make it back to earth, there is no financial recovery and they take full recovery for it.
