Herstory in the making: Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala resumes her first day as the Director-General of the WTO today

Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, former Nigerian Finance Minister and the first woman and African to be appointed as Director-General of the World Trade Organization resumed her first day of work as the director general of the WTO today.

Feeling super charged to assume her role as the WTO’s chief, Ngozi said the following: “coming into one of the most important institutions in the world and we have a lot of work to do. I feel ready to go.”

With all eyes fixed on the first female African to assume the role of the WTO chief, Ngozi has her work cut out for her.

How do you think Ngozi’s role will affect global trade and Nigeria specifically?
